The Emerald Dawn
No philosophy has served Akodo Hanshiro better than the idea that a good offense makes for a good defense and he ran with that in every aspect of his life. He is brash, abrasive, stubborn and loud. He is an extremely skilled warrior though, and values prowess on the battlefield more than just about anything under Amaterasu. He respects the chain of command enough that he has not been dismissed from his post, but if he feels something needs to be done, particularly due to a lack of action, he is not above taking the initiative.
He married a Scorpion woman for political reasons, but she disappeared after only three years together. It was enough time however for her to bear him a son, Shotaka, who has been the greatest disappointment of Hanshiro’s life as far as he’s concerned. Shotaka is nothing like his father – he is kind, gentle, thoughtful and more intelligent than people give him credit for. If it were up to him he would have undoubtedly become a scholar or shugenja, but no son of the great Taisa Hanshiro was going to do anything but wage war.
